Michael: According to my research Charles was the son of Henry L. CHAPMAN of Runnels Co. Henry L. was the son of Henry Edward CHAPMAN who died in Winters, Runnels co. 5-3-1924. Henry Edward was the son of Levi C. CHAPMAN of Georgia who was in Nacogdoches Co. Tx. in 1860. According to the social Security index Charles died in January of 1967. Don Steele. I am interested in any Maverick Couty information regarding my ggrandfather George Nubern (G N) Marshall. He died of pneumonia on March 23, 1885 at the age of 40. His wife, Maria (Sebastian) served as postmistress from 1889 to 1908. George Marshall was supposedly buried in a cemetary in Maverick. Any additional information or confirmation of burial details would be appreciated. Sponsor Note:G.N. Marshall buried Maverick Cemetery. Runnels County Cemetery Inscriptions lists:

Looking for information on William L. Towner, early resident of Runnels County. Really interetested in middle name. This could possibly be who my grandfather, Lister Towner Jenkins, was named after. I'm trying to find out if his middle initial stood for Lister.

Otto KLAUS born Sep. 1866 in Texas married Amalia 'Mollie' RAMTHON [this name may not be spelt correctly]born 8 June 1875 died 16 Feb. 1931 in Runnels Co., Texas and buried in Protestant Cem. in Runnels Co., Texas They had a daughter Fredericka born Aug. 1899 in Runnels Co., died 1990 buried in the Protestant Cem.. Otto and Amalia also had a son Raymond Albert KLAUS born 24 Dec. 1915 in Runnels Co., died 2 Feb. 1946 in Runnels Co., buried in Protestant Cem. Raymond married Elsie Irene KAULFUS born 25 May 1914 in Falls Co., they had a son born 27 May 1944 in Rowena, Runnels Co.. Will exchange what information I have on this family.

My records indicate my father, Robin POWERS was born in Winters on March 23, 1909. Is there any way to authenticate this information. Further, his father, Samuel H. POWERS, is shown as having died in Roscoe? in Runnels county. The POWERS were in Coke county for the 1900 census and apparaently were migratory farmers with both Samuel being a Baptist preacher. Any information or help would be appreciated.

Thomas James (maybe James Thomas) O'Steen was born 1861 or 1862 in Hazelhurst, Mississippi. He married Juretta Roberts, born 1966(9?) in Sedalia, Missouri. They moved to Runnels County before 1886. Juretta's mother's first name was Vashtie and she was born in 1829 in Arkansas. I am looking for both descendants and information about these ancestors. Shelli shelmar1@home.com.

I have a letter written to my grandfather, Claude HIGHTOWER, in 1947 from 2 German Prisoners-of-war captured by him after their escape from Camp Barkley in 1945. One of the men had been sent after the war to a prisoner camp in England, and had been released and allowed to return home to Germany in August or September, 1947. The letter was addressed to "Sheriff HIGHTOWER, Winters, Texas, U.S. A.", dated September 27, 1947 and mailed from Germany the next day. From the letter, it would appear that this was quite an event in Winters, as the writer referred to being escorted back to the prison camp by "the entire populace of Winters". I would like to hear from anyone who remembers the re-capture of German POW's just outside of Winters - or who remembers hearing their parents talk about it. Looking for info on Leonard BOYER who lived in Miles, Runnels Co, Tx, 1910-1935. He and his family had a farm around Miles. He and part of his family are buried in the Miles Cemetery. His son, Clyde, also farmed there, and lost his wife and child in a house fire. Could anyone provide me with additional info on this family?.
