In the late 1800's, Rev. John D. WILLIAMS and his wife "Kate" went to the area of Runnells County to pasture a Baptist church. On January 4, 1900, he backed into the path of a moving train, killing him. This was at Miles Station. Does anyone know where Rev. WILLIAMS is buried? His wife returned to Williamson County to live with her sons and is buried at Minerva, Texas, but where is her husband? If you can ehlp, please e-mail me. Thanks, Ann in Texas memsoco@earthlink.net.

1900 Census, Runnels County, Prct 5, dwelling 16, family 16, reports: Grant, Elizabeth J., Head of household, white, female, b: July 1841, age 58, widowed Charlie T. (Grant), son, white, male, b: Aug 1874, age 25, single, Salesman of Dry Goods Nellie E. (Grant), daughter, white, female, b: Aug 1874, age 25, single Beatrice L. (Grant), daughter, white, female, b: Aug 1878, age 21, single Just down the street in dwelling 27, family 27, I find the John Henry Grant family. On John Henry's line in the Census is reported: Grant, John H., head of household, white, male, b: Sep 1863, age 36, married 12 years, Physician What is the relationship between these two Grant families? I believe that Elizabeth J. (Josephine) Grant is John Henry Grant's mother. Is Nathan Worley Grant (b: 11 Dec 1831 in Washington Co. VA and d: 16 Aug 1883 in Ballinger and buried in Bluff Creek Cemetery) Elizabeth J. Grant's husband and John Henry Grant's father? In Doctor John Henry Grant's obituary I find amongst the reported surviving family members that he had two sisters living in Ballinger. They had obviously married. The two sisters were reported as Mrs. James Brewer and Mrs. Asa Cordell. Did Nellie E. Grant and Beatrice L. Grant marry these men? Doctor John Henry Grant is my Great Great Grandfather. I have considerable circumstantial evidence to support these questions. I believe that Nathan Worley Grant (reported as N. W. Grant in the 1860 Census for Springfield, Limestone County, Texas, and the 1880 Census for Johnson County Texas) was a School Teacher and farmer. I believe he married Elizabeth Josephine (surname not known) in Springfield, TX. John Henry Grant (reported in the 1880 Census as "Harry" I believe) was born 17 Sep 1863 in Springfield, Limestone County, TX. I believe that Nathan Worley and Elizabeth Josephine Grant had a total of seven children: John Henry, Katie (b: abt 1866), Willie (b: abt. 1870) Ollie or Allie (b: abt. 1873), twins -- Charles T. and Nellie Ellen b: Aug 1874, and Beatrice L. b: Aug 1878. I do not know when Nathan brought his family to Runnels County. Nathan Worley Grant died and is buried in Runnels County. I believe that Doctor John Henry Grant was in Ballinger because his mother and younger siblings lived there. I believe that the two youngest Grant girls married and remained in Ballinger. I believe their ma! rried names are: Mrs. James Brewer and Mrs. Asa Cordell. Does anybody in Runnels County (or anywhere else for that matter) have any information to help me turn my circumstantial evidence into fact?.

I am from Tallapoosa County, Alabama. Shortly before and after 1910, my grandfather's brother, John CASADAY (also known as "Tige") lived in Crews, TX with his two daughters Ara and Viola. He returned soon thereafter to Notasulga, Alabama to raise his family. Does anyone know of a Casaday connection in Crews or Runnels County?. Sponsor Note: Not sure of a Casaday connection but I know for a fact that there was a Tallapoosa County connection to numerous families that lived in the northeastern section of the county. Many of these families are buried in the Midway Cemetery, in northwestern Coleman County.

I am seeking information on Ola GRIGGS, who, in the 1950s visited my grandfather, Charlie CASADAY, in Tallapoosa County, Alabama. She was related to the CASADAYS. She sent a picture of a family reunion in Ballinger in June 1958. Her brother or brother-in-law was named Herbert, and a nephew of hers played football for the University of Oklahoma. She must have been born in about 1910. I would be very pleased to know more of her and her connection to the CASADAYS.

Runnels Co,Winters: I am seeking information about the CHANEY family members who lived in Winters,Tx. I think they first started moving there about 1920.William Harvey and Janie (Levina Jane CHANEY) Price moved there about that time. Then around 1925, Jack and Rhoda (CHANEY)MCWRIGHT moved there. According to the 1900 Runnels County census, Cate WILLIAMS is living there and gives her occupation as a hotel keeper.

My grandfather Thomas H. ROBERTS appeared on the Runnels Co census in 1900 with his wife and 2 small daughters. After the death of my grandmother, 'Jennie' BURLESON, in 1903, he moved to New Mexico where he died a few years later. I am trying to find who his parents were. That census says they were born in TX. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am seeking information from anyone who may have known a Mrs. Keet DUNN who lived on the K-D Ranch in or near Winters, Runnels County, Texas. I have a copy of letter that was sent to Mrs. DUNN dated 2/14/1957 from the State Archives regarding the CSA records for Claiborne (C.) S. FRITTS and would like to learn her connection to him. Mr. FRITTS is my great great great grandfather.
