MARTIN, STEELE posted by Debbie Johnson on Monday, March 8, 1999: I would like out any information about the John James (J.J.) MARTIN family that lived in Runnels County in early 1900's. Avis Cordellia Brown MARTIN and John James MARTIN had these children: Joe, Tom, Maud, Effie, and Annie Lou - my grandmother. Annie married Harry White STEELE, also of Runnels County. They lived in Norton and Winters. Annie and Harry had my father, Joe M. STEELE. I would like to know when Avis and John were born and where they died, as well as info about the children. Annie and Harry moved to San Angelo, Tx around 1948 and moved to Odessa, Tx in 1960's. I hope to hear from someone!

John died in 1928 and Nan in 1934, both buried in Winters. Their children were: Ida married to Joe COMPTON; Lee md. to Leander BAGWELL; Lillie md. to Sam HALE; Julia md. to Wiley HINES; Lucy md. to Leander CHAPMAN; George C (Lum?) ; and Ellis md. to Mary COTTON. Any info on these individuals appreciated.

I found an LDS file that show he married Minnie LAWRENCE and had a son Jewel Erie b April 10, 1906 in Wingate, Runnels Co, Texas. I have a Charles Flemming FOSTER b April 30, 1877 d 1957 married to Mattie Elvira RODGERS. Charles' brother George Josier FOSTER married Zonie T RODGERS sister of Mattie and had a son named Jewel b 1895. My FOSTERS/RODGERS were from McCulloch Co, TX. Are these two families related?
