NEW PEOPLE, VISITORS and NEWSMAKERS Max LANGE is planning to visit his mother in Germany at an early date. He will be away from Ballinger about three months. Christian Endeavor Program--The C. E. will render the following program at the C. P. church next Sunday afternoon at 4 o'clock: Topic--Youthful Consecration; Leader--O. M. FITZHUGH: Song; Responsive Lesson Reading; Song; Words on the topic by leader; God's Use of Youth--Miss Adrienne TRULY: Why Our Youth Should Be Gods--Miss Ethel TRULY; Open discussion of the topic; Song. A cordial invitation is extended to all young people to be present at these services.. Capt. R. A. SMITH was looking after his business interests in our city the first of the week. Miss Lizzie BOWDEN came in from Winters Monday and that same afternoon took the train for Bangs where her parents reside. W. F. YOES, a nephew of Prof. J. A. STARNES, has been in our city prospecting. We are not sure of securing him as a citizen but we trust such may be the case. His home is at Wills Point. R. C. HARRIS, of Maverick, visited Ballinger Tuesday and put a dollar into the editor's hopper while here. J. Whit PATTERSON and wife, of Winters, were in town Sunday and Monday. Mrs. Eva GASTON, who since Christmas has been visiting her sister, the Misses LEWIS, returning this week to Bartlett, where she is engaged in business. Miss Ella BOWDEN of Winters, was a Ballinger visitor Monday. Mr. D. QUINN, of Coleman, registered in Ballinger the first of the week. Dr. BROWN, a practicing physician of Coleman, was in Ballinger one day this week. C. H. EOFF, one of the recent valued additions to the citizenship of Winters, was trading in Ballinger Wednesday. D. C. UNDERWOOD is having the building adjoining LANKFORD's fitted up as an office and will move in when completed. Judge C. H. WILLINGHAM left Sunday afternoon for Austin to represent the people of this district in the Legislative halls. C. E. WOODROW, of Content, was in Ballinger Monday, the first time since last September. A rush of ginning business has kept him away. The L. E. PATTERSON feather cleaning outfit has reached Ballinger and judging by the wagons we see rushing about with bundles they are doing a good business. Miss Edna ODOM returned Tuesday evening to Austin after a pleasant, but brief, stay with home folks and friends. She will not return to Ballinger before June. A little daughter of T. M. COTTEN, while playing at school Monday twisted her foot in such a way as to break her leg above the knee. Dr. LOVE set the injured limb and the patient is now resting easily. Mr. Fred ST JOHN, of Centerville, Leon county, arrived in Ballinger Wednesday night with a three-fold object in view--to visit friends, to regain his health and to look out a location. Dan VAN PELT has lately received a handsome new rubber tire buggy of the latest pattern--it's a Moonie. Messrs. ANDREWS, SPRADDLING, THOMSON, and LUPER, who spent a week prospecting in this county returned to Caddo Mills Monday. Three of the four have bought land and the fourth will buy as soon as he can dispose of his Hunt county property. B. B. STONE had legal business out of town Saturday. Alec ADAMS, of Winters, was trading in the city Thursday. Irvin BROWN, of Winters, was trading in Ballinger Wednesday. Ashby TILLERY, of Crews, was doing some trading in Ballinger Tuesday. Joe HARDIN moved Wednesday into the house vacated by Mr. BREEDLOVE. The family of Mc D. TOWNSEND moved to Wingate the first of the week. W. H. WEEKS is slowly recovering from an attack of la grippe and rheumatism. C. O. HARRIS has been confined to his room several days this week with la grippe. W. B. JONES, of Tennyson, Coke county, was in town Monday to see Judge C. H. WILLINGHAM on business. F. S. ABNEY, of Brownwood, was in Ballinger Friday representing a wholesale drug concern of the state. Miss Neil GUION returned Friday night to San Angelo to resume her duties in the music school there. Dr. SESSUM's wife came up from Sonora Sunday to spend a few days. Dr. Sessum has lately located here to practice dentistry. A. D. CLARK had the misfortune to mash his hand last week so badly as to disable him for a week. Mr. Sanford SMITH, a prosperous farmer of Jameson, Mo., came in Thursday morning to spend a few weeks prospecting. Mr. and Mrs. M. A. NATIONS Thursday took charge of the City Hotel and will hereafter conduct it on the same plans which have made the hotel a success under Mrs. REED's management. Mrs. REED will move into her new residence fronting M. C. SMITH's home place. Mr. Jno. BROOKFIELD, of Brownwood, was in the city the first of the week. Asa CORDILL, the jeweler, was a visitor in San Angelo Sunday. Mrs. J. Whit PATTERSON left Monday for Brownwood, where she will visit a few days with friends. Mrs. J. F. CURRIE accompanied her sister, Miss ODOM, as far as Temple Tuesday returning home a day later. After a pleasant visit to friends in Ballinger Miss Helen BELTANZ of San Angelo returned home last Saturday. J. A. COLLIER, of Hubbard City, arrived Monday night to look at our town and county. He is the guest of his brother, W. N. COLLIER. The members of the Cumberland Presbyterian Junior Endeavors were entertained in royal style at Mr. & Mrs. WILMETH's Friday night of last week. VITAL STATISTICS DEATHS: Austin, the five year old son of Mr. & Mrs. W. M. McKINLEY died at the family residence in this city Thursday evening from a combined attack of pneumonia and conjestion. The remains were carried to their final resting place Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Rev. MANLY conducting the service.
