Emily was born in San Augustine TX 17 Jun
1826, the daughter of Judge John Gilbert Love & Rebecca Axum. She married
Robert Adams
Terrell 26 Mar 1846 in San Augustine Co TX & they came to
live in Kaufman County (then still part of Henderson County) on land Robert
received from the state for surveying the Republic.
Emily & Robert Terrell were slave owners & while Robert was away during the Civil War Emily lived in the wilderness, fifteen miles from the closest town (which was Kaufman) with her children & slaves. Emily became ill and died 23 Jun 1867. She is buried at Oakland Cemetery in Terrell, TX. For a list of Emily's children,
