Louisa Sawyer Johnson

Louisa Sawyer was born 7 Aug 1820 in MA, daughter of George Sawyer & Lucy Ann Hoar.  She came to Texas with her family when her father received land through Mercer's Colony.

Louisa was considered a "spinster", always living with her parents and caring for them until 27 Mar 1855 when, at the age of 35, she became the fourth wife of William Jasper Johnson in Kaufman Co.  He was a widower with 8 children at home under the age of 17 and she helped raise those children.  William was born circa 1808 in NC and died 14 Aug 1891 in Mineral Wells in Palo Pinto Co TX, and is buried at College Mound Cemetery in Kaufman County.

Louisa never had children of her own and she died 17 Dec 1896 and is buried in the old Blackland Cemetery in Kaufman County.
