Very little is known about Mariah, including her maiden surname.  According to records she was born circa 1780 in SC and she married Ezekiel Ables circa 1803.

   Per the birthplaces of their children, Mariah and Ezekiel lived in TN, AL & MS before coming to Texas.  They arrived in Texas in January 1836, settling in Nacogdoches County.  Ezekiel was issued headright survey # 25 in Nacogdoches.  Ezekiel died in 1848 and after his death she moved to Kaufman County and lived with her children.  Mariah died 20 Sep 1866 in Kaufman Co TX and is buried in the Weaver Cemetery.  Her tombstone is inscribed that she was 86 years of age at her death.
