Note there is a new law regarding birth recordsSenate Bill 861 of the 78th Legislature, Regular Session, took effect on September 1, 2003. Birth records now are private until they become public information and available to the public on and after the 75th anniversary of the date of birth as shown on the record filed with the Bureau of Vital Statistics or local registration official. Birth records older than 75 years, however, are public information and can be obtained from the Bureau of Vital Statistics, Texas Department of Health. Death records become public after twenty-five years. Because of these privacy laws and because of the possibility of the data being used for identity theft, only those birth and death records that are currently public are posted on this site. |
