Kaufman County's oldest District Court Records - Cases #1 through #5000 (which is approximately 1848 through 1900) - are now easily accessible to researchers. These records have been kept for more than 10 years in the Carnegie Library in Terrell, but have been moved back to the county seat and are now housed in the office of the Kaufman County Historical Commission at 205 S. Jackson - one block south of the county courthouse square. Phone at the office - 972-932-4331 Ext 1230.
