A Note about Kaufman County Records
(Courtesy of Robbie Giles)

The District Clerk Records (i.e. Civil, Criminal, divorce, naturalization) are now on computer for easier researching.  Each case has a cause number.  The first 5000 case packets (original) are housed in the Terrell Museum (the old Carnigie Library) in Terrell, Texas.  If you go to the courthouse and find the cause numbers, the menu will show what volume and page number the minutes are in (if these were found).  To view the original packets one will have to go to Terrell.  Contact Jean-Ann Ables Flatt of Terrell for hours.

The Probate Records are in the final stages of being placed on the computer.  These records are being imaged onto a disk.  The menu on the computer will show "The Estate of"; "The Representative" (guardian, admininstrator, executor, etc.) year of filing, volume and page of the minutes.

This job was done by Linda Kay Harwell and Jerry Flook.
