MRS. KATE SHELTON
Mrs. Kate Shelton, resident of Kemp, passed away at her home there Monday night. She will repose at the Anderson Clayton Funeral Home until the funeral Hour. Services were held from the First Baptist Church in Kemp at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday with the Rev. Weldon Brooks officiating.
Interment will be in the Kemp Cemetery with her nephews serving as pallbearers. Mrs. Shelton, a native of Mississippi, was born on August 10, 1882. She came to Texas with her family as a young girl and settled first in Navarro County. In 1895 they moved to Kaufman County and she has lived the remainder of her life in near Kemp. She was a member of the Baptist Church.
She was married to Walter M. Shelton on July 23, 1899 and to this union ten children were born. Three sons have preceeded her in death and she is survived by; her husband, Walter M. Shelton of Kemp; two sons, Joe Shelton of Hobb New Mexico, Presley Shelton of Lawton, Oklahoma; five daughters, Mrs. Inez Brewer of Kemp, Mrs. Henry Pyle and Mrs. Roy Dalton both of Dallas, Mrs. Frank Bullard of Garland, Mrs. Frank Workman of Mesquite; ten grandchildren; ten great grandchildren, and other relatives.
