Peter Keyes Obituary and Newspaper Article

"Terrell Daily Tribune" - May 6, 1929

 "Uncle Peter" Keyes, former slave, died yesterday. He was past 83 years, a native of Atlanta, Georgia, having lived in Terrel for the past 34 years. He leaves a wife, amost his age, a daughter and several grandchildren. He was a ward of Confederate soldiers and lately was sent on a trip to the Confederat reunion. Interment Wednsday here. The body was dressed in Confederate suit of gray. A few months ago a sketch of his appeared in some of the Dallas papers, telling of his life and his work during the Civil War, written by Dean Odie Minatra, then head of the Texas Military College here.
