Daniel Garrison Jones obituarySubmitted by Lissa Johnston Mabank Banner Clint Sapp was in town Tuesday and told us of the death of Uncle Dan Jones of Prairieville. Mr. Jones had been making his home for some time with his daughter Mrs. Ole Olson. Had he lived two more days he would have been 75 years of age. It had not been decided yesterday morning just where he would be buried. Several of the family were expected to arrive yesterday and the place of burial would be decided after they arrived. We have received the information this morning that Mr. Jones will be buried today at the Norwegian cemetery at Prairieville Today. The services will be conducted by Rev. Olie Apple of this place. Mabank Banner In our last issue we briefly reported the death of D. G. Jones at Prairieville last Tuesday. We are indebted to Rev. Ollie Apple for the following additional information. Mr. Jones was born in Blunt county, Alabama, February 3rd, 1852. At the time of his death he just lacked two days reaching 75 years of age. In 1877 he was married to Miss Josephine Reeves. To this union, seven children were born, two boys and five girls. Of these children, four are still living. He is also survived by fifteen grand-children and one great grand-child. At the age of twenty-one he professed religion and united with the Baptist church, of which denomination he has ever since been a devoted member. |
