1920 - 2007  Edith O. Bridwell, 86, an operator with Southwestern Bell Telephone, died Tuesday, June 12, 2007. Funeral: 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Park Temple Baptist Church, 2832  Townsend Drive. The Rev. Tom Fatka will officiate. Burial: Laurel Land  Memorial Park. Memorials: Should friends desire, memorials may be given to Park Temple Baptist Church, Box 11979, Fort Worth, Texas 76110.

Edith was born in Kaufman County in 1920.  She was one of eight children born to Maggie and Wiley Bedingfield.  She grew up in and around Wills Point and graduated from Wills Point High School in 1937.  Edith then entered the armed forces, where she served as a PBX operator in the Signal Corps of the Women's Army Corps.  She served two years and at the time of her discharge, she held the rank of corporal.  She was stationed first at Fort Oglethorpe, Ga., and later at Goodfellow Field in San Angelo.  She worked as a telephone operator for Bell Telephone Co. for 10 years.

She was a devoted wife, mother, sister and friend to all who knew and loved her.  Edith was a woman of great faith who loved her God, her family and her friends.  She was very active at her church, serving more than a decade as church clerk and Sunday school secretary.

Edith has now joined Fred and has been reunited with all her family who preceded her in death.  She can now stand tall and walk easily down the golden streets without assistance.  She can remember all things she cherished and participate in all the activities of heaven.

Edith was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Bridwell; her parents, Wiley and Maggie Bedingfield; brothers, Lee, Bryan and Rayford Bedingfield; and sisters, Opal Taylor, Billie Lou Miller and Ruth Mulkey.

Survivors:  Daughter, Linda Bridwell of Fort Worth; her sons, Leslie Bridwell of Fort Worth and Ron Bridwell and his wife, Sharon, of Arlington; and her sister, Izora Mott of Ennis; and her grandchild, Cameron Bridwell of Arlington, who was her pride and joy.
