Dan B. "Happy Jack" Bennett

Submitted by Robert "Bobby" Bennett bobbybennett@hotmail.com

My Great-Grandfather Dan B. Bennett was known to friends and family as "Happy Jack" Bennett.  Most people just thought his name was Jack as it is listed in this article:

From unknown paper Aug 1937:

Dan B. Bennett Obit.

Forney Man Found Dead Beside Track

Meager information was received here today of the finding of the dead body of Jack Bennett, Forney farmer, on the Texas & Pacific right-of-way, just west of Brushy Creek this morning.  There was little evidence of mutilation of the body by a passing train, but a portion of his body was apparently scalded.

Mr. Bennett was about 60 years of age and a tenant on the farm of John McKellar, near Forney.  He is survived by his wife and several children.  The funeral service will be held at Forney this afternoon at 4 o'clock.

He is buried in an unmarked grave at Long Creek cemetery, Sunnyvale, Dallas Co., Tx.
