The Kaufman Rail Road Depot - 1901

Kaufman Rail Road Depot - 1901

KAUFMAN RAILROAD STATION--This is a new photograph of the Southern Pacific's Station in Kaumfan.  The first train into Kaufman was the Texas Grand Trunk Railway, completed from Dallas to Kaufman in 1881.  It later became the Texas & New Orleans, which was purchased by Southern Pacific.  What once was Mrs. Hettie Green's railroad from Paris to Ennis, via Kaufman, now only operates from Pars as far as Kaufman.  It is the Texas Midland, also owned by the Southern Pacific.

Where the tracks once ran on the east side of town there is a street now named "Old Rail Road".  In the spot where this depot once stood there is today a mini storage warehouse which is called "Choo Choo Storage Depot"
