First City Marshall of Forney in 1884.
In 1886 he was elected Mayor of Forney.
Elected Judge of the local Justice Court in 1888.
He was murdered 29 Nov 1893 by John Bell, a man who held a grudge against Wood for slapping him and telling him to get out of town.  Bell found Wood at the Blue Front Drug Store and shot him dead.
