Wanted: Kaufman County Marriages from 1856

The Marriage book from 1856 has been missing from the courthouse for a long time.  Kathey Hunt and Linda Harwell would like to include those missing from 1856 in these pages.  They have a few marriages in January 1856 and some in November & December of that year, but all the others are missing.  If you have a copy of an 1856 Kaufman County Marriage Certificate, please scan it and send it via e-mail to Linda Harwell   hotwheels.1943 @ yahoo.com so that it can be added to the list.  Marriages which are not proven to have been in Kaufman County in 1856 through a copy of a certificate cannot be included in this list.  However, if you would like to submit a Bible record from 1856, you are more than welcome to add it to Kaufman County Bible Records.

A marriage record from 1856 which was missing has been added:  Charles Lee JONES and Margaret Louisa SHAW were married 28 Aug 1856.

Marriage Look-ups

Note:  the ONLY info available via Marriage Look-ups are the names of the bride and groom, the date they were married, possibly who they were married by and which Book the license is recorded in.  Parents' names were NOT recorded on the Kaufman County, TX marriage licenses, so please do not expect to receive this information when requesting a look-up.

*After 1874, many of the people who lived in northern Kaufman County went to Rockwall to get married because it was closer than going all the way to Kaufman.  If you have not been successful in locating a Kaufman County ancestor's marriage in the Kaufman County Marriages, you may want to ask for a look-up in this source.
