The recipient is Hattie George Noble. Bronson was my father - George Bronson Williams. Mary and he were the only children that George and Dr. Horace B. Williams had together, although they raised Dr. Williams' and Julia Azalea's children also. The writer is likely Mary Isabella Lacy, who did live to be about 86.

Dear Georgie
I'm going to send Bronson a box by Parcel Post, hope he will be pleased with the work. My eyes are dim can'' see as well as I once did, need new glasses. I'm using the same ones I got from D Pe??y when ? a was with me in Dallas. Several years ago. I have nothing of interest to write this afternoon all pretty well. Erne? don't mend like we want her to, ? we get impatient. She don't seem hungry, still on eggs & milk eats brown toast & a baked apple some days. She churned this am, wants to work can't get out doors yet. Tom goes all the time. Don't know how we could get along if she was not with us. We have tried to get help, but the weater is fair last week & Thurs*?) I did the washing last & this week - going to iron this pm; it don't tire me very much. I'm well sleep & eat like a youngster. Sue talked like she would go to see you Thanksgiving. Hope she can. I think of you every day & wish to see you & would only I feel like I ought to be with Erne(?). a letter from Lucy this week alls well. Mildred is well pleased with her school in Virginia keeps well. Ray?(Roy?)(Revy?) & Noble wrote me a birthday letter. Tom has five (fine?) children. I think you did your part in training (treating?) them.
Geo. I could cry, because none of the family can be with you. You were always so good to go to any of them when they were sad & wanted sympathy. The Lord has given you strength to bear the burdens of life. Blife(believe?) & trust him. He is our comforter. Geo I cant tell you how I did appreciate your last letter. May your daughter be good to you as mine are & have been to me. I try to be thankful every day. Write often I am yours affect. Mother, M & Nettie

Dear Mary, I rec'd your letter yesterday. Glad always to hear from you. Proud that you are getting on so nicely with your work at school & home too. But take care of your health. Your aunt is doing fairly well, is fitting up a box now to send to GB. I hope he will be pleased. His granmother could'nt do anything but knit if the letters get there before the box does don't tell him it is coming. I want to surprise him. Mary everyone that sees my hdkfs (handkerchiefs?) that you sent me think they are so pretty. I hope you'll have as happy a birthday on the 23rd as I had on the 7th. I certainly was happy and glad that God had let me live to see my 84 birthday. Tell your mother, Tom sent the muffler to her if she can't ? it, may be your papa can or any of you that it fits. The ? is to darn yours or this sweater myself.
Geo, tell me how Mary's sweater looks on her.
Mama
