 Terrell Gray Fortner was born 3-8-1851 in Jackson Co., AL. Not long after his birth, his parents died. He was raised by Terrell and Mary Gray. He took their last name as his middle name. He married Sarrah Ivy in that county 11-7-1875. After a brother in law killed a man the Fortners and a couple more families fled to Missouri and later ended up in Kaufman Co., Texas in the mid 1890's. Sarrah died in 1911 and Terrell in 1917.
