John Bruce Cotton - born  7 Jan 1887, Kaufman Co Texas, died 20 Feb 1920 in McAlester OK, was son of John W. Cotton and Martha Weaver.  Martha's father, Addison Weaver, was one of the earliest settlers in Kaufman County.

Mattie Foster - born 21 Mar 1888 at Caddo Mills, Hunt County Texas, died 19 April 1945 in Pittsburg County OK.  She was daughter of Marcus Foster & Mary Ann Dobbs.

John & Mattie married 1 Oct 1910 in Hunt County Texas but resided in Kaufman County until after the birth of their first child, Vera Mae Cotton, who was born in Kaufman County in 1911.

They had 4 children:  Vera Mae, Arlie Lee, Carl Weldon & Eldon Lloyd
After John Bruce's death, Mattie married Charlie H. Blaine.

Above is a Picture Postcard of John Bruce Cotton.
 He sent the postcard to Mattie Foster on 21 Aug 1910, six weeks before they married.  He wrote on it:
"Hello Kid, How are you-fine I hope.  I am as mean as ever and think more of you everyday.  D__ I haven't rec'd your letter yet."
