Contradictory information has been found regarding where Travis Workman (died 10/5/1942 and born 12/6/1857) was buried; sources indicate he is either buried in Shiloh Cemetery or in an unmarked grave in the Crandall Cemetery. There is a tombstone in the Shiloh Cemetery for Travis Workman. However, he is also listed as being in an unmarked grave in Crandall Cemetery:
The Crandall info has the source as the actual Death Certificate Records "KCC Bk 40 - 42, pg 619," Kaufman County Courts - Death Record Books-40-42, page 619 has him listed as being buried at Crandall. The death record is an official document in the clerk's office. However, Julie Workman, who is researching this family, states, "one of Travis' daughters verified that he is buried in Shiloh. She bought the plots and was in attendance at the funeral." It could very well be that Travis Workman IS buried at Crandall, but the family bought a tombstone & placed it in Shiloh in the family's plot with his wife & everyone else - this happens more often than you might think.
This is a hard one to call, but the official record has as much credence as the actual tombstone. Conclusion: there is a tombstone for Travis Workman in Shiloh Cemetery, but the Death record shows he was buried in Crandall Cemetery. | ||||||||||||
