History: The Abner Community is named for Abner Johnson. In the 1850's the community was called Johnson's Point. There was a large 4' X 5' gray granite stone within a filigree iron fence marking this grave as late as 1994, but when the site was revisited in December 1998 the stone was missing and the fence sections were all gone except one which had become entangled in the grapevines growing there. Location: This grave site is located on the Mike Benge Farm on Co. Rd. 133. The stone read: 1798 ~ 1866 "A Well-Deserved Rest" ![]() Photographed 1998 It is also believed by some that Abner's first wife, Nancy Harr Johnson is buried at this site. |
