History:  Supposedly the first court held in Kaufman County, in 1849, was held on the old Eagan homestead at this location.

     Aged 2 Yrs, 11 Mos, 2 Dys
     Inscription: "Sweet Sleep"

Mary Eagan                   Died March 8, 1872
     Ag__  50 Yrs, 7 Mos, 5 Dys
     "Consort of James"
     Inscription: "Fell Asleep in Jesus"

Richard Eagan                D___ Jan 5, 1870 Ag___(Unreadable)
     Inscription: "They Do Rest From Their Labors"

A. T. __gan Jr.                 July 17, 1874 ~ April 6, 1895 

(stone broken - unreadable)
Inscription: "No Pain, No Fear,
Can Reach our Loved One
Sleeping Here"

Margaret Eagan Hardin    Dec 29, 1870
     Aged 26 Yrs, 6 Mos, 2 Dys
     "Wife of Thomas Hardin"

David Dempsey                1832 ~ 1891 

Pvt. Co. A., 37th Texas Cavalry  C.S.A. (died Dec 11, 1891)

Note:  it is known from obituaries that James Eagan Sr. and Nancy Sybil Johnson "Nannie" Dempsey are also buried here in unmarked graves.  Nancy Dempsey died Dec. 14, 1891.
