History: The Daugherty family settled here in the 1850's - several brothers, their sons & nephews - and were all very important in the founding of Brooklyn, now known as Forney, Texas. The earliest known burials here date back to the time of the Civil War. This cemetery was once quite large, but has suffered from the elements, time & vandalism. With every enumeration the number of tombstones dwindles and those remaining seem to have suffered further forms of abuse and neglect.
