*NOTE: Bethany Brewer's tombstone was stolen from the site between 1997 and 1999. It was seen there in 1997 by K K Hunt and the Brewer family, and according to Ruth Riley Peavey in "Cemetery records of Henderson & Surrounding Counties", it was seen by Peavy and she incorrectly transcribed Bethany Brewer's date of death Oct 15, 1857. The death year was proven to be 1867 thru probate records in March 1999 by Arlene Garey & Jody Brewer. **NOTE: This stone was found in the mud on 22 Feb 2005. By the dates it is known to be the tombstone of Kinion Kendrick Brewer's first wife, Mary Elizabeth Carter McCorkle Brewer. She married K K Brewer in 1867 - they had a daughter, Mary Louisa, born February 1869 and Elizabeth died from complications of that birth. She was daughter of Joseph Carter & Louisa Saunders of Van Zandt County, and the widow of John F McCorkle when she married Kinion Brewer. A search was made for the top portion of the marker 22 Feb 2005, but it was not found. Some Info per Arlene Garey & Jody Brewer |
