Also known as Sanders Cemetery
Kaufman County Texas

Historic Designation
Historic Designation from the Texas Historical Commission

Blackland Cemetery

History:  One of the oldest burial sites in the county

Condition:  Deplorable - completely neglected.  Not fenced and frequently vandalized.

There are dozens of stones lying face down which cannot be turned over to be read.  There are others in pieces - the entire area is covered in pieces of tombstones.

There are three metal markers which are unreadable, Stakes and stumps marking graves, bricks and rocks marking graves, metal slabs marking graves and slate slabs marking graves.

Enumerated 1988 by Linda Feagin Harwell & April 2, 1999 by Donald & Kathey Hunt

In March 1999 there were 36 empty tombstone bases in the cemetery.

Corrections were made to the list below after volunteers cleaned up this cemetery, exposing the markers, May 8, 2004.
