Barrow Plantation Cemetery

Near the Kaufman-Hunt County Line
In the North Gossett Community
Kaufman County Texas

History:  This site was given to the Black plantation workers as a place to inter their dead.  Many of them lived full time on the plantation, and many were freed slaves who once were the property of the Barrow family.
When the site was inspected it was apparent that there are at least twenty graves here, where the land has sunken in, yet very few markers.

Enumeration:

Double marker:
Lizzie Morris   (no date)
George             (no dates)

Mack Royal       1861 - 1939

Temporary marker - Lavinia "Vinnie" Royal

There are 4 bois d'arc stumps marking graves and a large piece of metal which may mark another. Under the tree line to the west of the Royal gravestone there are 2 broken vases with faded silk flowers marking another gravesite.
