In 1910 a soda water bottling company moved it's plant from Grand Saline to Forney. The owner of the company made the move to take advantage of the artesian water found in the Forney area, touting the water there carbonated better than the water in Van Zandt County. According to the Terrell Daily Tribune on October 12, 1910, "Bert Pipkin, the bottling works man, dispensed his forney Soda pop free to all Friday night. Numbers of people partook of the drink and, of course, pronounced it "the best ever made." Below is a bottle made in 1911, found in a Kaufman County antiques store in December 2005. ![]() |
