One of the projects of the Genealogical Society of Aransas County is the indexing of marriage records in the Clerk's office.  There are 25 volumes to date, and each will be added to this page as completed.  We appreciate all of the GSAC members who have volunteered and devoted their time to making this project a reality.  

The records begin after the formation of Aransas County in 1871.  Marriage records from 1836-1871 are posted on the Refugio County website or can be found on microfilm at Texas A&M University - Kingsville, which can be obtained through inter-library loan, or through the LDS library.

The spelling shown is the same as the records to the extent it can be read; however, there can be no guarantee of accuracy due to the fading of the records and difficulty in reading names.   While every effort has been made to provide correct information, it is recommended that you ALWAYS verify the source of the information provided by obtaining a certified copy of the marriage record from the County Clerk.

In some cases, the record indicates the license only with no record of the marriage, so the date given would be the date the license was issued.  In that event, it is noted under the Official column.  Starting with Volume 11, we note that in some cases an application may be granted and filed in this county when the parties actually married in a different county.  Therefore, we have added in an additional column to reflect the actual county where the marriage occurred when known.

Since starting this project, the Marriage Records for Texas covering the period 1966-1997 were made available on the Internet, and we abandoned our local indexing here with the 1965 records.  However the Texas Marriage records were then pulled.   We were able to obtain copies of the Texas Marriage records and will post them below by year; in the interim, you can find them in the USGenWeb Archives.  To order copies of Texas Marriage records, use the Reference number provided to order them from the state.   To order copies of the Aransas County marriage records, order them from the Clerk of Aransas County.  When ordering, note that the file numbers used by the state and county are different.

TEXAS MARRIAGE RECORDS FOR ARANSAS COUNTY
